Mom's Recipe - Chai Kuih



..... during the weekend, have a suddent craving for mom's "Chai Kuih". Since my two kids are taking nap, we decided to try out mom's recipe.. while she is still staying with us. With "Si-fu" around, making chai kuih is an easy task ...
Recipe here makes about 50 pieces.
Ingredience:
Skin :
A) 1 bowl tang mien flour
1 1/2 tapioca flour
1 bowl water
B) 7 tbsp Olive Oil
Filling : Fry all ingredients together
1 medium size turnip, or "Sengkuang"
1 carrot
1/4 bowl Small dried prawn of dried
white pepper and salt for taste.
Method :
1. Mixed all the ingredient A together, boil in small fire. Keep stir until the mixture is cook and dry.
2. Add in ingredient B, and let the dough cool.
3. After 30 mins, knead the dough with tapioca flour until smooth.
4. Cut into small pieces, roll with rolling pin to get round shape.
5. Spoon the Filling onto the skin and pleat into any shape.
6. Place the ready pleat chai kuih in a steaming tray.
7. Steam for 10 mins - until cook.
